There’s a mystic quality to most stained glass, but where others just dabble in magic, this one is a wizard!
Our journey starts from the center out with a streaky blue and white slag glass circle, a halo of amber colored glass with 4 opalescent jewels at each cardinal direction. Flanking it to each side is a row of caramel colored slag glass diamonds, their corners radiating outward delineating a gridwork of clear ripple textured glass that makes up the background. Emerging from above and below are two sets of flourishes, also in caramel slag, whose leafy curls envelop 4 more jewels. Framing it all is a rectangular border of blue ripple glass, echoing the clear ripple of the background as well as the water-like appearance of the circle center.
Glass panel is set in a newly made wooden frame ready for painting, staining, or just plain hanging! Its reinforcing bars have kept the piece flat and firm through the years. Cracks, both “band-aided“ with lead and not, are present but stable (detailed in photos).
