Maxfield Parrish, American painter and illustrator, is recognized for his iconic use of brilliant colors and Neo-Classical imagery. Romance is one of Parrish’s best-known paintings. Making its debut in 1925 at an exhibition by the Scott and Fowles Gallery in New York City, it was sold along other notable works for $10,000 each and made Parrish the highest paid artist in America at that time.

This print is a faithful reproduction of his original painting set in an ornate gilt gesso frame fronted with wavy glass. Picture hanging wire and period Reinthal & Newman Company’s stamp included on the backside.
