Plaque after Francois Dusquenoy "Bacchanal of Putti"
Based on an original marble relief sculpture by Flemish Baroque artist Francois Dusquenoy, this miniature plaque has a fine level of detail to the casting- delicately visible in the background are mountain tops and billowing clouds that would have been lost in a more crude casting. A tasteful, classical representation of drunk and disorderly behavior, the relief shows a group of putti antagonizing a goat by hitting it with switches and confronting it with a playful mask. This plaque would look lovely in a simple display mount, or framed in a sumptuous gilded frame.
