The short lived history of the Muller Freres factory in Luneville, France is one filled with the creation of some of the most beautiful glass work of the late 19th and early 20th century. The brothers Muller gained notoriety at the end of the 19th century for their vases, having earned the ire of their former teacher Émile Gallé, another famous French glassmaker, for setting up a rival shop in competition with their former instructor. Henri Muller and his brother created layered and cast glass pieces with fanciful patterns that garnered them great success until the great depression closed the business for good by 1933. This signed fixture is a restrained art deco charmer with hand-wrought iron work that complements the beautiful opaque glass. Early 20th century.
