Late 19th century Persian Qajar Tile with Gol-O-Bolbol Motif

$685.00

Exuberantly appointed with roses and a songbird, this cobalt blue tile tells the classic story of love both divine and unrequited- the nightingale sings songs of adoration to the perfect, beautiful, and silent rose. A poem writ in earthenware and glaze, this tile was handmade and glazed in stunning vivid colors sometime in the late 19th century by Persian artisans. If you look carefully at the back, you can even see the fingerprint of the maker embedded. This small detail with its human connection to the past is just the sort of thing any collector would fawn over!

Perhaps in presenting this to your beloved, be them a poet, artist, or historian, your rose will hear the song in your heart.
