On the first crate with the tag attached, there is also the painted label CFT & Co, SY, which makes sense as C. F. Taylor and Co based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, was one of several mills that consolidated under the name British Mohair Spinners Ltd in the 1970s.This crate has a handle that has frayed due to its age, but you can imagine how well made these baskets were that they kept being used well into the 70s!
The second crate is emblazoned GWC, S, which has more mysterious origins, but was also likely an English fiber or textile mill. This crate has a bit of a lean to its shape but is sturdy and sits on the ground squarely.
