These exquisite glass tiles were primarily utilized in commercial leaded transoms to enhance ambient light during a time when electricity was not yet common. This particular tile pattern features 13 raised water droplets arranged in diamond-formation on one side and rows of sawtooth-profiled ribs on the other - creating a stunning visual effect from different angles. These tiles, once clear, were made with manganese which over time reacts with UV from the Sun and slowly turns an amethyst purple.
This tile showcases the artistry of the American Luxfer Prism Company, one of the leading prismatic tile manufacturers of its time.
