








Hand-Painted, Gothic Arched, Stained Glass Window
Holy Schmoly Hand-Painted Glory!
This 19th-century pointed arch window features a colorful display of jewel toned glass as well as applied vitreous paint. “Vitreous paints are finely ground glass with intense metallic oxide pigments that, once fired into the glass, can be used to permanently shade or color glass pieces.” Thus the term painted glass. Iron oxide is used to make brown while Silver oxide for yellow tones. Gothic Revival designs further embellish a kaleidoscope of shapes and colors.
Has a white paint for its original exterior side, and a mahogany-colored varnish for the other. Lead in great condition given its age.
