Cast Bronze Figural Relief Andirons
These very special andirons have a wealth of interesting imagery cast into their surface. Beautifully individualized, the left and right pieces have subtle differences in the appearance of the figures within the vignettes. Each andiron displays a bucolic scene of a farmer milking a horned cow underneath a tree. A bird, different in either andiron, perches in the crown of the tree. A decorative flourish with a fruit garland and fabric swag adorns the upper portion, while the legs have grotesque masks and fantasy birds. Very unusual and wholly unique, Pennsylvania origin.
