An early 19th century German piece, this Black Forest styled shelving unit has beautiful details in the carved accents covering every inch of the frame and shelves. Indeed, the thematic carving, which features a grape motif, is wrought with such care while still maintaining a more handmade aesthetic. The feet of the piece are stylized lions, rendered in charming fashion; the lions heads were cut off on one side of the piece at one point in its history, though this does little to detract from the overall beauty of the piece and enables it to sit flush against a wall – the most likely reason they were cut.
